ADL’s Associate Board can be proud of a very successful Civility Project led by its Community Partnerships Committee and Programming Committee in partnership with the Houston Area Urban League Young Professionals and Lambda NextGen. The Civility Project was facilitated by Resetting the Table.
About 50 people gathered at the AZA law firm, which generously donated space for the Sunday afternoon session, and discussed a variety of topics and issues ranging from gun control, police presence, gender identity, the #MeToo movement, the U.S. role on the global state, media and religion.
Resetting the Table was brought in to encourage meaningful dialogue and deliberation across the various opinions in the room. Event co-chair Bethany Boucher said the goal of the event was “to bring together a group of people from diverse backgrounds and views to learn and practice tangible skills for having conversations with people with whom you might disagree, to challenge each other and bridge divides.”
ADL thanks the Associate Board, Resetting the Table, the AZA law firm, the Houston Area Urban League Young Professionals and Lambda NextGen for making the event a rousing success.
