16th Annual Walter Kase Teacher Excellence Awards Luncheon
Building Schools That Are No Place for Hate®

The Walter Kase Teacher Excellence Awards pay tribute to three Region IV educators for their outstanding efforts to create an atmosphere in our schools that rejects prejudice and regards diversity as a strength.  They are named after Walter Kase, a Polish-born Holocaust Survivor, who has spent years speaking to youths, educators, and community leaders about the dangers of prejudice and bigotry and the importance of love, respect and understanding.

WALTER KASE

Walter Kase is a Polish-born Holocaust survivor who overcame the obstacles of the ghettos and concentration camps and loss of his entire immediate family with the exception of his beloved mother. Walter has dedicated his time and efforts to impress upon thousands of teachers and students the importance of respecting each other, showing compassion, and enjoying the freedom of education. He delivers the message that no matter how bleak a situation can be, we can triumph. Walter is highly regarded, and with his life-changing story, he hopes to continue to build a community that is No Place for Hate^®. We are honored to name our Award after a true hero, Walter Kase.
