The No Place for Hate® Luncheon will be held Thursday, November 15 at the Hotel Derek from Noon – 1:00 pm. The Luncheon helps fund ADL’s regional educational programs including the No Place for Hate® Initiative.
Nationwide, the Anti-Defamation League’s (ADL) No Place for Hate® Initiative has changed the lives of millions of young people by providing members of the school community with anti-bias and bullying prevention programs, promoting diversity and inclusion, challenging bias, and building ally behaviors. For participating kindergarten through 12th grade schools, this signifies the completion of a rigorous set of anti-bias and anti-bullying activities and a continuing pledge to respect individual differences and reject prejudice.
As part of this year’s Luncheon, we feature author Barbara Coloroso as our keynote speaker, and we will recognize three educators with the Walter Kase Educator Excellence Award. Walter Kase, a Polish-born Holocaust survivor, spent the years 1942-1945 in five different concentration camps. For over 25 years, Walter tirelessly shared his story about the dangers of prejudice and bigotry and the importance of love, respect, and understanding with youth, educators, and the broader community throughout the state of Texas.
Educators to be honored include: Amy Cmaidalka, Bay Colony Elementary School, Dickinson ISD; Na’Teasel Davis, North Shore Senior High School, Galena Park ISD; and Dorothy Leahy, Tanglewood Middle School, Houston ISD.
