Monica Bauer Visits Southwest Region

  • April 5, 2019

ADL’s director of Hispanic Affairs, Monica Bauer spent several days in the Southwest Region recently, working hard during a whirlwind of meetings and appointments to fulfill ADL’s Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Mexico and provide information to ADL’s stakeholders on our work with Latinx countries.

In San Antonio, Monica provided anti-bullying training for 35 people who attended in person and via webinar.  Participants included staffs of Mexico’s San Antonio, Laredo, and McAllen consulates, and community leaders.   The San Antonio moved ADL closer to completing the first part of the MOU, in which our agency agreed to provide trainings on hate crimes, anti-bullying, and immigrant extremists to all the consulates in the country.   After San Antonio, Monica had only 12 more trainings to fulfill that promise nationwide.

Monica also met with Marisa Bono, the San Antonio Mayor’s Chief of Policy.

In Houston, Monica’s visit included meetings with the American/Mexican Association, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, educators from the Spring Branch school district, the 2019 GLI class,  ADL’s International Affairs Committee and other top lay leaders, and LULAC.

She also did an interview with Univision/Channel 45 while here, and a phone interview with the Hispanic Chamber’s TV show as the result of her visit.
